What is the CTR formula?
CTR = clicks ÷ impressions × 100. For example, 400 clicks from 50,000 impressions gives a CTR of 0.8%. Impressions count ad displays, including repeated displays to the same person.
What is a good CTR?
A useful comparison depends on the platform, placement, audience, objective and click definition. Search, display and social CTRs are not interchangeable. This calculator compares your result with a target you enter.
How does the target CTR scenario work?
It applies your target CTR to your existing impression count. For example, 50,000 impressions at 1.2% CTR would produce 600 clicks. If your current count is 400, the difference is 200 clicks.
Why does the target scenario show a different cost per click?
It divides your entered spend by the target click count. This assumes spend and impressions stay fixed. It is a planning calculation, not a prediction of auction costs or campaign performance.
Does low CTR mean my ad design is bad?
No. The audience, placement, offer and message can all affect clicks. Check your reporting and test one specific change. High CTR alone also does not establish profitability.
How can I improve CTR?
Match the message to the audience, make the offer and call to action clear, and test controlled variations. For search ads, review query relevance. For visual ads, test the headline or image. Assess conversion quality as well as clicks.
